The Catawba Valley Conference has announced its baseball All-Conference selections for 2022 on Saturday (May 14th). Lincolnton, West Lincoln and Bunker Hill each had four players named All-Confence; conference champion Bandys got five.
From LHS, Will Blackburn, Sam Carpenter, Easton Dellinger and Gavin Jiminez were selected. From West Lincoln, Taylor Cook, Noah Gantt, Evan Hartsoe and Brett Mason were chosen. From Bandys, Zach Barnett, Terick Bumgarner, Nolan Jones, Cade Spencer and Parker Styborski; from Bunker Hill, Carson Elder, Tanner Kanipe, Drew Moore, and Preston Workman.
Maiden got two All-Conference selections: Brenden Harrison and Tyler Hedgepeth. East Burke's Cloin Echard and Cooper Greene, Newton-Conover's Jorge Rodriguez, and West Caldwell's Ashton Minton were also selected.
Cade Spencer, Bandys junior pitcher, and Parker Styborski, senior infielder, were named defensive & offensive Players of the Year; Bandys coach Frank Porter was named Coach of the Year.
Both Bandys and Lincolnton made the NCHSAA playoffs, but Lincolnton lost in the first round and Bandys in the second.
Three Lincoln County teams are still alive in the playoffs. Lincoln Charter will play at home in a 2A third round game Tuesday against Community School of Davidson; in the 3A playoffs, East will host Carson and North will play at West Henderson.
Cherryville will play a third round game at home against East Wilkes on Tuesday in the 1A playoffs.
