North Lincoln captured both the boys and girls championships in the Western Foothills Conference.  Stephen Fernetti from North was named the Runner of the Year and Coach Jerry Castro was named Coach of the Year.

Dontae Baker of Hickory was named the Track Athlete of the Year and North Iredell's John Jackson the Field Event Athlete of the Year.

All-Conference selections were based on event performances.  They were:

  1. North Lincoln:  Stephen Fernetti;  Logan Richardson;  Logan Helms;  Kolton Hodges
  2. North Iredell:  Max Kimp;  Noah Whitenmyer;  Malachi Hernandez;  Brodie Anderson

Sutton finished second in the event at the West Regionals on Saturday.

Event:  100 Meter Dash

Event:  1600 Meter Run       
From North Lincoln:  Connor Bagwell              
From  North Lincoln:  Stephen Fernetti

Bagwell finished second at the West Regional event Saturday at Enka.

Sutton won the event at the West Regional meet at Enka on Saturday.

Bagwell finished fourth in the event at the NCHSAA 3A West Regional meet Saturday (May 14th) at Enka.  Kolton Hodges from North finished first.

From  East Lincoln:  Jaylen Roseboro 

Event:  3200 Meter Run       
From North Iredell:  Philip Riddle      
From St. Stephens:  Payce Sherrill

The NCHSAA 2A and 3A state championships wlll be held this Friday (May 20th) at NC A&T University in Greensboro.

Baseball, softball, soccer, golf, tennis, track...there are so many different Spring sports, it's hard for us to keep up with high school sports and to recognize the student athletes from local schools.  We do our best, but we can't do it without help.  We really appreciate it when coaches, players, and fans help us with information, scores, photos, signings, etc. involving their teams.
