Monday's girls soccer playoffs saw much more scoring than is customary. For a soccer team to score 11 goals in a game is very, very rare, but that's what the Lincolnton girls did Monday (May 16th) in winning their first round game in the NCHSAA 2A soccer playoffs. The Wolves won the match with Burns 11-2. They'll host Madison, who won their Monday game with North Forsyth 8-0 on Thursday. The Patriots have allowed more than one goal in only one of their 19 matches this season. They are 16-2-1; LHS is now 16-5.
For the Maiden girls, the season ended with a 9-0 loss to Hendersonville.
Lincoln Charter's girls are scheduled to play the #1 West Region seed Wilkes Central on Thursday in Wilkesboro. The Eagles won their first round game with McMichael 9-0.
In the 3A playoffs, East Lincoln beat West Rowan 7-0. That sets up a rematch with Hickory on Thursday in Denver. The Mustangs beat the Red Tornadoes in their first regular season meeting, but had to settle for a 1-all tie in their second match that ended the regular season.
