Boys soccer teams play in the Fall; girls in the Spring. West Lincoln's boys started their season with a win at Crest on Tuesday. The game was tied 1-all at the half, but West scored the winning goal in the second half. Coach Cheatham gave credit to his team's defense; Mark Aguilar and Joel Sellers were top defenders and goalie Grayson Gilbert had 11 saves. West will play at Ashbrook Wednesday at 6 PM.

Lincoln Charter's soccer team started its season with a win Monday over Thomas Jefferson. Junior Antoni Ceciliano scored four goals for the Eagles, who built a 4-0 halftime lead and added another goal in the second half. Ethan Yates, also a junior, scored the other goal in the 5-1 victory. Yates also had two assists. Senior goalkeeper Anthony Mele had four saves. The Eagles will host Bradford Prep at 6 PM Wednesday, then play the Kannapolis Stallions Thursday night.

East Lincoln started its soccer season with a 1-0 win over Langtree Charter Tuesday. Senior Jackson Thrap scored the winning goal on an assist from senior Bandon Lefevers. Senior goalie Braxton Reeves held the Lions scoreless. East will travel to Onslow County (north of Wilmington on the NC coast) for its next two games: Friday (6 PM) against Swansboro and Saturday (11 AM) against Jacksonville. The Mustangs will host Lincolnton Monday (Aug. 22nd) at 6:30. That will be Lincolnton's first match of the season.

North Lincoln is scheduled to being its soccer season at home Thursday (6 PM) against Langtree Charter.

Maiden lost its opening game to Statesville Tuesday 5-0. The Blue Devils will play at South Caldwell Wednesday (6 PM), then host Cherryville on Monday at 5. THat will be the first game of the season for Cherryville.

Fred T. Foard tied Stuart Cramer 2-2 in its first game on Monday (Aug. 15th). The Tigers will host Lake Norman Charter on Thursday (6 PM).

Bandys beat Hickory's Challenger High School 9-0 on Tuesday. The Trojans play at West Iredell Wednesday.


North Lincoln won both the varsity and junior varsity volleyball games over West Lincoln on Monday. The Knights were scheduled to host Maiden Tuesday, but they have not reported any of their scores so far. Lincoln Charter will visit North Lincoln on Thursday. Maiden will play at St. Stephens Wednesday and visit Alexander Central on Thursday. Lincoln Charter opens its volleyball season hosting Bradford Prep Wednesday.

East Lincoln lost to Kings Mountain 3-0 on Tuesday. They'll visit West Lincoln on Thursday. West lost to East Rutherford Tuesday 3-0.

Lincolnton lost 3-1 at Thomas Jefferson on Monday. They'll host Cherryville Wednesday (6 PM), then visit Highland Tech on Thursday.

Fred T. Foard will host Bandys on Thursday in their first match. The Trojans lost to St. Stephens 3-2 on Tuesday.


The West Lincoln girls golf team was scheduled to play at Lincoln Country Club Tuesday. We have not received a report on that match. West travels to Maggie Valley to play Wednesday. East Lincoln's girls golf team is scheduled to play a match at Glen Oaks Club in Maiden on September 6th. North Lincoln's first match of the season will be at a match hosted by West Lincoln on Tuesday (Aug. 23rd).


Both the East Lincoln and North Lincoln girls tennis teams were scheduled to begin play on Tuesday with home matches--East against South Point and North against Shelby. No scores were reported. West Lincoln's girls were scheduled to host Cherryville Tuesday, but we also got no report on that match. The Lincolnton girls tennis team opens its season at home against Cherryville Wednesday (4:15). LHS will then host East Lincoln Thursday. North is scheduled to visit Forestview Thursday (4 PM). West Lincoln will host Foard a 4 PM Wednesday.

Lincoln Charter was scheduled to play at Langtree Charter Monday. With the weather, it may not have been played. In any case, we got no report. The Maiden girls start their season at home against St. Stephens on Wednesday.


While all four Lincoln County teams did well at the FCA Footbball Jamboree last Friday night at Lincolnton High School stadium, those scrimmage wins don't count on the season record.  The regular season starts this week.  JVs play Thursday and varsity games happen Friday night.
