High School Sports Update
Girls golf, tennis, volleyball and boys soccer

After coming in third of the five teams in their opening match at Lincoln Country Club on Aug. 16th, the West Lincoln girls golf team took first place in a five-team match at Maggie Valley on the 17th; then won a five-team match at Cherokee on the 18th.

In that first match at Lincoln Country Club, Newton-Conover was first and Hickory Ridge third. In that 9-hole match, Reese Coltrane was the medalist with 38 strokes. She finished second at Maggie Valley with a 43, three strokes behind the medalist from Tuscola. Melody Hoffman and Gracie Campbell from West tied for third taking 53 strokes for the nine holes. Taylor Turner and Natalee Gentry both shot 57. At Cherokee, Coltrane finished second the same Tuscola golfer, losing medalist honors by a single stroke, taking 86 strokes for 18 holes. Melony Hoffman finished third with a 103; Gracie Campbell was fourth with a 105; and Natalie Gentry shot 109.

The Rebels had another match Tuesday (Aug. 23rd) at Lincoln Country Club, but so far we have no report on that outing. They are scheduled for a multi-team affair at Rocky River Golf Club in Concord at 3 PM Thursday (Aug. 25th).

Lincoln Charter was also scheduled to play a match on Tuesday in Mooresville, but we have no report on that one.


North Lincoln is now 3-0 after a 9-0 win at Alexander Central on Tuesday (Aug. 23rd). Emma Carver, Caitlin Simcox, Natlie Gore, Lulu King, Rachel Fink, and Ella Wulfhorst won singles matches.
Carver & Simcox; Gore & King; Fink & Wulfhorst; Addisen Heavner & Penelope Joly; Mia Lang & Lucy Thompson; Emme Johnson & Addison Phuntek; and Karn Dugan & Kristine Nicholson won in doubles play. North will play at Highland Tech Thursday (Aug. 25th) at 4 PM.

Lincolnton plays at Cherryville Thursday at 4 PM.
Cherryville beat Hunter Huss 8-1 on Tuesday (Aug. 23rd).

Lincoln Charter played at Mtn. Island Charter Wednesday (Aug. 24th). We don't have a score report so far. The Eaglesplay at home Friday at 3 PM against Christ the King.

East Lincoln, now 3-0 after beating West Lincoln 5-4 on Tuesday (Aug. 23rd) will play at Mooresville Thursday at 4 PM. Westdoes not play again until Tuesday (Aug. 30th) when they host South Point.

Maiden and Fred T. Foard played Wednesday. No score has been reported so far. Maiden's next match will be at South Iredell next Thursday (Sept. 1st). Foard hosts Hibriten Thursday at 4 PM.


North Lincoln shut down Bunker Hill in two sets: 25-7 and 25-8 on Wednesday (Aug. 24th). The win evens the Knights' record at 2-2. They play at 6 PM Thursday (Aug. 25th) at Lake Norman Charter.

Lincolnton lost at Cherryville Wednesday 3-1 (25-27, 27-25, 25-19, 25-15); their next match will be Tuesday (Aug. 30th) at home against Bunker Hill (5 PM). The win makes Cherryville 4-0. They'll host Shelby at 5:30 Thursday.

After beating Maiden 3-1 on Tuesday (Aug. 23rd), East Lincoln, now 2-1, will host Bandys at 6 PM Thursday. The Trojans next match will be Tuesday (Aug. 30th) hosting West Lincoln (5:30 PM).
West lost to Highland Tech 3-0 Wednesday (Aug. 24th). The Rebels will host Chase Monday at 5:30.

Lincoln Charter was scheduled to play at Maiden Wednesday (Aug. 24th). We have no report so far. The Eagles will play at St. Stephens on Saturday at noon in a tournament. That night, they'll play Newton-Conover.

Fred T. Foard will host Davidson Day Thursday (Aug. 25th) at 5:45 PM.
