SOCCER

North Lincoln beat Lincolnton 7-1 Wednesday. With the win, North is now 4-1. They host Lincoln Charter on Tuesday (9/6) at 6 PM; then play their first conference match next Thursday (9/8) at East Lincoln.

Nobody from North gave us any info on the match, including who scored their goals, but Lincolnton Coach Brad Bagan said it's tough rebuilding, but after losing so many seniors from last year's team, it's what has to happen: "We are struggling to find any kind of consistency; we did little right from start to finish tonight, and we are a much better team then we showed tonight. We are desperately needing to find a vocal leader, improve our communication, and find some real team chemistry in this group. Guys will step up and this group will get it together, but who it's gonna be or when I can't say at this point, and our schedule doesn't get any easier any time soon. Junior Aaron Lail got our lone goal and the final score doesn't reflect how well goalkeeper Max Norman played in the net." The loss leaves the LHS team with a 1-3-1 record. They host St. Stephens on Tuesday (9/6) at 6:30 PM.

Landon Graden had two goals on assists from Zachary Hoyt and Helmut Rojas as East Lincoln recovered from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie South Point 2-2 Wednesday. The Mustangs are now 2-2-2 for the season. They will visit Lake Norman Charter on Tuesday (9/6, 6 PM) and then host North Lincoln on Thursday (9/8, 6 PM).

Lincoln Charter beat Newton-Conover 3-2 Wednesday. Antoni Ceciliano scored two goals and Noah Allmond one for the Eagles, who are now 5-1-1. After visiting North Lincoln on Tuesday (9/6) they'll play at Forest Hills (Marshville) on Thursday (9/8).

West Lincoln lost at North Gaston Wednesday 6-0. The Rebels, now 2-4, play a Labor Day match at home against Bessemer City on Monday (5 PM). They'll visit Cherryville on Tuesday (9/6, 5:30 PM) and host R-S Central next Thursday (9/8 5:15 PM).

Maiden downed Cherryville 3-2 Wednesday, evening their record at 3-3. They play Draughn twice next week--at Maiden on Tuesday (9/6 5 PM) and at Valdese Thursday (9/8 5 PM).

Cherryville, now 3-1, visits West Lincoln Tuesday, then plays at Crest Wednesday (9/7 5:30 PM).

Bandys, 4-0, will host Bessemer City at 5:30 Thursday (9/1). Fred T. Foard's next match is Tuesday, at home against South Point (6 PM). They'll visit St. Stephens on Thursday (9/8).
