The Lincolnton High School Basketball teams took four games from their West Lincoln rivals Friday evening (Jan. 18).
In the JV girls game, the Lincolnton team won by a lop-sided 32 to 18 score. The JV boys took a 47 to 41 victory.
In the girls varsity game, Lincolnton led most of the way: 8-6 after the first period, 20-16 at the half, 25-21 at the end of the third quarter...but West took the lead for the first time at 27 to 25 with just over five minutes remaining in the game. West led 31-27, but after a free throw and a Lincolnton basket cut the margin to 31-30, West turned the ball over on a traveling call. Lincolnton hit a 3-pointer to take the lead 33-31 and never trailed again. The final score: 38-35.
The boys varsity game started close and West Lincoln led at the end of the first quarter 14-11, but the Wolves then soared to a 10-point margin at the half 33-23 and led by 25 at the end of the third period. The biggest lead was 27 points with just over two minutes left in the game, and the final was Lincolnton 73, West Lincoln 55.
Alonzo Mobley #32 scored 23 points for the Wolves. Every player on the Lincolnton squad also scored. Lincolnton visits Cherryville on Tuesday while West Lincoln hosts Bessemer City.
