LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Saturday morning we headed to “Body Pump” class at The Rock Fitness still pumped from Friday night’s win to claim the crown as the Southern District-7 conference champs.  While torturing, I mean training our biceps, we heard a song we had not heard before—Panic! At the Disco’s Emperor’s New Clothes.  The lyrics “If it feels good, tastes good it must be mine” spoke to us.  This conference championship feels good and tastes good and we know it’s ours.

The Wolves are playing great football and really clicking as a team.  Defense had a great game and our offense took advantage of their possessions.  We don’t want to leave out special teams either.  Langdon Givens had a 50+ yard punt that pinned West Caldwell deep in their own territory and Sage Surratt had a nice return that gave us good field position.  The kicking team all did a great job on kickoffs. At one point the kickoff team actually recovered a designed kick but an “inadvertent whistle” call gave the ball back to the Warriors.  Everyone on special teams did an awesome job and that is very important in big games.

As we said before, the Wolves are clicking and we are loving it.  These wins aren’t just for the team, they are for the fans, the town and even the county.  Friday night Teresa got a text from a diehard Mustang fan saying “You know ya’ll could be playing for the conference championship tonight…Keep it in the county.”  While we may be rivals we think we all have the same goal…to bring a championship home to Lincoln County.

Now, back to that song.  We are going to paraphrase some of the lyrics…

“[We] are taking back the crown…[We] see what’s [ours] and take it…The crown…so close [we] can taste it, [we] see what’s [ours] and take it…Heroes always get remembered, But you know legends never die.”

We want to be LEGENDS! Until next week….GO WOLVES!
