LINCOLNTON, N.C. - This is a year of overcoming obstacles and learning for the Wolves. Not just the players, but the coaches and fans also. The players are learning to play without numerous seniors who filled positions for the past several years, they are learning to cover new positions and how to deal with fair weather fans. Coaches are dealing with the same and trying to figure out how to find plays that utilizes the team’s best qualities.
Friday night we saw a work in progress. Newton came out and scored quickly, coaches adjusted by trying to slow down the game and utilize the clock, offense was switched up and they attempted a power running game. To see these young men come out expecting to play one way and then have to adjust quickly to a different style of offense is encouraging. These young men are showing their versatility and determination.
The Wolves were maybe one or two turnovers from a different ballgame. There was so much energy spent trying to “catch up” that they were just worn out on both sides of the ball. Despite their exhaustion they never gave up and that speaks volumes about their hearts and love for the game.
We are forever your biggest fans (after Mom of course)!
