LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Mica Dyson, daughter of Tom and Lorenda Dyson, and a Senior at Lincolnton High School signed this week to play basketball at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are a member of the Big South (NCAA Division I) Conference.

While at Lincolnton Dyson has been a 4-year starter on the varsity basketball team averaging 20-points, 11-rebounds and 5-assists per game.

She has been named All-Conference two times and was the Team Most Valuable Player during her Junior year and was also the holiday tournament MVP that same year (Lady Wolves were the Tournament Champions).

Dyson has also been a Varsity Captain for her Junior and Senior years. Last year she had a Triple Double with 39-points, 15-rebounds and 10-assists which led the Lady Wolves to a first round victory in the State Playoffs against East Lincoln.

At the signing Dyson said “I am thrilled to be able to go play as a Runnin’ Bulldog at Gardner-Webb! Thank you to my coaches who taught and helped me so much. Thank you especially to Coach Carr, Coach Rhyne and Coach Cline from Lincolnton High School, Coach Brown and Coach Troy from the Lady Warriors, Coach Cleon and Coach Derone from Carolina Express, Trainers Johnny Ingram and Phil Robinson, and my coaches in Mexico… and of course Coach Reeves from Gardner-Webb! Thank you to my family, to all of you who came to watch our games, to my amazing teammates, and above all to God who gives me breath.
