North Lincoln's baseball team won but the softball team lost in games played Tuesday (May 15th).
The Knights fell behind by five runs after two innings against Mount Pleasant, but scored a run in each of the next two innings, then six runs in the fifth inning to claim a 9-5 victory in their 2A third round game.
The Knights will next host Smoky Mountain Friday evening at 6 o'clock (weather permitting). A win in that game will put them in the semi-finals for the state championship next Tuesday.
While the Knights were coming from behind for the win, the reverse was happening for the girls softball team. Bunker Hill erased a 3-0 defict with six runs in the sixth inning to beat North Lincoln. Cierra Martin was the hero for the Lady Bears with a grand slam home run as a part of the rally.
In the 1A baseball playoffs, Lincoln Charter advanced but Cherryville lost. The Eagles won a 2-1 pitchers' dual that went an extra inning to top Polk County on Tuesday. They'll travel to
Pilot Mountain to play East Surry, a 6-2 winner over East Wilkes Tuesday, in their next game Friday evening. Cherryville's season ended with a 7-0 loss to Uwharrie Charter.
Lincoln Charter's girls soccer team advanced to the West regional semi-finals with a five goal second half for a 6-1 victory. They'll take on South Stokes in their next match.
