11/8/2018 5:09:00 AM LHS Dismal Season Finally Ends
Newton-Conover's quarterback spent much of the night trying to get away from East Lincoln's Trent Smith (#77). Smith sacked him twice and then blocked a punt that led to a Mustangs touchdown a few plays later.
While a few teams played their final game of the regular season last Friday, some opted to postpone. The Bandys at North Lincoln game was played Saturday night and several others were played Monday. The Lincolnton at Maiden football game was rescheduled for Wednesday night.
Maiden 13, Lincolnton 0 For the Wolves, their worst season in recent history finally came to an end, and it ended as it began--with a loss. The Wolves never really threatened to score in the defensive battle. The Blue Devils scored on two touchdown passes--one in the first and one in the third quarter, both from Bain Sipe to Dylan Abernethy. The Wolves end the season with a 2-9 record. Maiden finishes the regular season 8-3, 4-3 in the South Fork Conference, and will likely be invited to the NCHSAA playoffs when brackets are announced this Saturday.
