LINCOLNTON, N.C.––Yes, we may be in the midst of the usual annual wintry chill.
But it’s not too soon to be thinking about reserving local picnic shelters at the county’s parks. According to Lincoln County Parks and Recreation spokeswoman Missy Calloway, reservations for this year are now being taken.
“Please be advised that park shelter reservations are now based on a block schedule for half a day of $50 or a full day of $100 reservations only,” Calloway said.
She added that you may call the parks and rec office at (704) 748-1518 to book your reservation today for this summer.
And in other news, the annual Lincoln County Senior Games will have its official kick-off and the beginning of registration on Feb. 1, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Lincoln County Senior Center, co-located with the Gaston College Lincoln Campus in Lincolnton, as Calloway noted.
“Come learn about the Lincoln County Senior Games, pick up a registration packet and try out some of our events, such as the football toss, shuffleboard, cornhole, pickleball and badminton,” she said. “Also, you will have a chance to talk with our senior games staff about the silver arts contests, including the literary, visual, performing and heritage arts.”
The games are open to all Lincoln County residents that are 50 years of age and older. Registration ends March 2. If you have questions about the games and want to learn more about participating, Calloway encourages you to call (704) 748-1518.
