WLHS Wrestling BBQ Chicken Dinner, Friday, March 15 --- The West Lincoln Wrestling Team is hosting a fundraiser to purchase their State Wrestling Championship Rings on Friday, March 15. Tickets are $10 for a plate that includes half a chicken, beans, slaw and dessert. Get your tickets now from any West Lincoln Wrestler, their parents or contact the school. The BBQ Plates can be picked up at the New Gym Lobby at West Lincoln High School on March 15 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monetary donations will also be accepted to help the team purchase the rings.

March Madness For Kids, Saturday, March 16 --- While the adults may be excited about the ACC Tournament and the NCAA basketball playoffs, the kids may not really understand. A special March Madness program for them is scheduled for this Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. If the weather cooperates, the activities will be outside and include sports-related games. If it's raining, it will be inside the education building. Snacks and water will be provided. Parents are asked to stay with their children.

NLHS Practice Field Fundraiser, Now – March 22 --- A raffle is currently being held by the North Lincoln Knights Football Team with proceeds going to help repair the practice field at the high school. The grand prize is $5,000 cash, with a second prize of $2,500 and a third prize of $1,000.  Tickets are $50 each, and only 1,000 will be sold.  The drawing will be held on March 22, and you do not have to be present to win. Tickets for the practice field fundraiser can be purchased through any of the North Lincoln football coaches or sports boosters. Tickets can also be purchased online with a debit or credit card on the North Lincoln Knights Football Facebook page, at https://squareup.com/store/nlhs-sports-boosters/item/football-raffle-ticket or can be purchased at the school Monday through Friday.  North Lincoln is located at 2737 Lee Lawing Rd, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Benefit Pancake Breakfast For Brian Greer, Saturday, March 23
--- Coaches from West Lincoln and Lincolnton High Schools are coming together to help a mutual friend who recently who recently found out he has cancer – Brian Greer of City Lunch in Lincolnton. A Benefit Pancake Breakfast will be held at Fatz Restaurant in Lincolnton on Saturday, March 23 from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Cost is $10 per person. Tickets are available in the main office of each school or contact Victor David Avery on Facebook. While God only knows what is in store for Brian we know we that together we can help him along the way.

Long View Lions Club Team Bass Fishing Tournament, Saturday, March 23 --- The Long View Lions Club will host their Ninth Annual Rotary Drill Classic Team Bass Fishing Tournament of Saturday, March 23 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Lake Hickory Wittenburg Access, 89 Wildlife Access Road, Hickory, NC. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to support Long View Lions Club charities. Those eligible to compete must be 18 years or over; Under 18 participants must be accompanied by an adult. Adult/Child teams up to age 15 can compete. All contestants are required to comply with NC Game Fish Laws and Regulations. No Alcoholic beverages, stimulants and/or depressants are prohibited. Tournament will be held regardless of weather conditions. However, the Tournament Officials may change starting times as it is deemed necessary for the safety of the contestants. Entry fee; On the day of the event is $90, cash only. All tournament rules should be read carefully before signing the completed entry form when registering. Prizes will be awarded: First Place $1,000; Second Place $500’ Third Place $300; Fourth Place $200; Big Bass Pot $500; Second Place BBP $200; Top Adult/Child Team $150; Top Senior Team $150; Top Man and Woman Team $150. Denver Nuggets Travel Boys’ Basketball Tryouts March 25, 27, April 1, 3 --- The Denver Nuggets Travel Boys’ Basketball Teams will be holding tryouts for the following teams:  7th-11th Grade Boys Monday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 27 and Monday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 3 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the competition gym at East Lincoln High School (6471 Hwy 73 Denver, NC 28037). LRU Fourth Annual 5k, Saturday, April 6 --- Lenoir-Rhyne University and the City of Hickory are proud to present the Fourth Annual LRU 5K, Saturday, April 6, at 8:30 a.m. The 5K is intended for community members of all ages and features prizes for top-finishers, refreshments, musical entertainment, and offerings from local business vendors. Participants are welcome to run or walk the course at their own pace. Early registration is open through noon Tuesday, March 26 and includes a T-shirt with the event’s vintage LR logo. Additional T-shirts will be for sale at the event. Event day registration will be held between 7:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Please visit lr.edu/5K to register. RockyFest Trail Race, Saturday, April 13 --- Area runners are invited to participate in the 7th Annual RockyFest Trail Race on Saturday, April 13 at 8 a.m. at the Rocky Face Park Multipurpose Building. There will be three race distances, including a 4.5-mile, 9-mile, and 13.5-mile event. The race is FREE to Alexander County residents and county employees (active or retired), and ALL emergency services personnel, military, and teachers. Early registration for either race is only $25 if postmarked by April 1, with an additional $10 fee after that date, including race day. T-shirts are not included in the registration fee, so please include $10 more if you want a race t-shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed to those who register by April 1. Special awards will go to the top three (3) overall males and females in each race. Masters awards will be presented to the first male and female (age 40+) in each race. Easter Seals Charity Golf Tournament, Monday, April 29 (Register By April 12) --- Easterseals UCP Lithia Inn Group Home will host its Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament on April 29 at the Lincoln Country Club in Lincolnton. The tournament is a four-person captain’s choice format that kicks off at 12:30 p.m. The $60 ticket covers lunch, greens fees, range balls and cart fees. A silent auction and awards reception will follow the tournament. Sponsorship opportunities and golfer entry spots are now available! Hickory Police Special Olympics Golf Tournament, Monday, May 13 --- Hickory Police Department is continuing their efforts to support Special Olympics North Carolina through fundraising and by bringing awareness to the organization’s goals of providing year-round sports training and athletic opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities through social inclusion. HPD will host the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Special Olympics on May 13 at the Lake Hickory Country Club – Catawba Springs Course.  This event helps to raise the much-needed funding for the many programs offered by Special Olympics North Carolina in Catawba County such as basketball, bowling, equestrian, flag football, softball, soccer, swimming and tennis. Volleyball Camp With Charlene Johnson Whitted, July 15-16 --- Charlene Johnson Whitted, former Olympic Setter from the 2000 Summer games is coming to Combine Academy to hold a volleyball camp for players 8th-12th grade.
