The Lincolnton softball team is happy they got to play Forestview twice. Those two games--one the first of the 2019 season and the other March 28th--are the only games they've won this year. They'll try again this week in games at home against East Lincoln on Tuesday (April 9th), against Stuart Cramer on Thursday (April 11th) and against Bandys on Friday (April 12th). Last week, they lost to Maiden 18-0 on Tuesday, to Cherryville 8-3 on Thursday.
One of East Lincoln's two South Fork Conference losses was to North Lincoln in an eight-inning game on March 19th by a 7-4 score. The Mustangs arew scheduled to play at North Lincoln starting at 6 PM Friday (April 12th). Their other loss was to Newton-Conover in early March by a 5-4 score. Since the loss to North, the Mustangs softballers have reeled off six wins in a row including a 3-2 win over Newton-Conover last Tuesday and shutouts of Hopewell, 7-0 on Wednesday, and Lake Norman Charter, 9-0 last Thursday. After their game at Lincolnton on Tuesday (April 9th), they'll host Mooresville Wednesday before visiting North on Friday.
North Lincoln's softball team is atop the South Fork Conference standings. Their only loss was at West Lincoln, 4-3 on March 12th. After wins last week over East Gaston, 18-2 on Monday, Bandys, 9-8 last Tuesday, and West Lincoln 9-3 on Thursday; the Knights will play at Lake Norman Charter this Tuesday (April 9th) and at West Iredell Wednesday before hosting East Lincoln on Friday.
West Lincoln had a big win over Lake Norman Charter 22-10 last Tuesday before losing to North Lincoln on Thursday. Their week begins with a Monday game hosting East Burke; they then host Maiden on Tuesday and Newton-Conover Wednesday.
Maiden had three wins last week: 18-0 over Lincolnton on Tuesday, 7-1 over Lincoln Charter Wednesday and 6-1 over Bandys on Thursday. This week, the Blue Devils play at West Lincoln Tuesday and at home against Lake Norman Charter on Friday.
After losses to Maiden and North Lincoln last week, Bandys plays at home against Newton-Conover before traveling to Lincoln Charter on Thursday and Lincolnton on Friday.
Even though they've lost three games, including that 7-1 loss to Maiden last Wednesday, the Lincoln Charter softball team is still atop their Southern Piedmont 1A Conference standings, a game in front of Bessemer City. They've played the Yellow Jackets three times, and Bessemer City gave them their only conference loss, but they won the other two games against Bessemer. Their other games last week included two wins over Highland Tech: 19-5 on Tuesday and 13-1 on Thursday. This week, they'll have two games with Cherryville--on the road on Tuesday and at Denver on Friday. They'll also play at home against Bandys on Thursday.
Cherryville's softballers are a half-game behind Bessemer City in the SP1A. Their two losses this season include one to Bessemer City on a rainy Monday two weeks ago and to Lincoln Charter. This week, they'll host Lincoln Charter on Tuesday and play at Lincoln Charter on Friday; between those games, they'll host East Gaston at 7 PM Thursday.
