The East Lincoln girls soccer team won a 4-3 contest at Lincolnton Tuesday, giving them a 7-2 conference record keeping them in sole possession of second place in the South Fork 2A Conference. Freshman Cambell Vander Harr and junior Taylor Barrineau each scored a goal and freshman Deana Poteat scored two in the win. East will play at North Lincoln on Thursday.

The Maiden soccer team remained tied for third place in the conference after beating West Lincoln 8-0 Tuesday. Maiden will host league-leading Lake Norman Charter on Thursday. West Lincoln will host Newton-Conover on Thursday and Cherryville on Friday.

The North Lincoln girls played for about four minutes at Lake Norman Charter on Tuesday--but then a thunderstorm arrived with thunder and lightning and the game had to be postponed. It will now be played at Lake Norman Charter on April 29th.

In baseball, Cherryville beat Lincoln Charter 11-3 as Dillon Robinson had a double and a home run for the Ironmen, who put up eight runs over the first three innings for the win. The victory--their eighth in a row--gave Cherryville a 12-0 Southern Piedmont 1A Conference record and dropped the Eagles to 10-2 in the league in second place.

East Lincoln downed Lincolnton 11-1 and Bandys topped Newton-Conover 4-2 in other baseball games Tuesday. Bandys' win leaves the Trojans a half game behind Maiden in the South Fork Conference standings with an 8-3 league record (the Blue Devils are 8-2 pending their Wednesday game hosting West Lincoln).

Rain has again forced some postponements of sporting events. The South Fork Conference tennis tournament at North Lincoln High School was rescheduled until Wednesday (April 10th) and Thursday. Play was scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM each day.

Various sports events from Monday (baseball, softball, soccer) were either postponed or cancelled because of rain. North Lincoln's baseball game at North Gaston was postponed until Wednesday (April 10th) but then removed from the schedule when the game against Lake Norman Charter was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday. The West Lincoln at Maiden baseball game was also moved to Wednesday. The game with Statesville at West was moved from Wednesday to next Monday (April 15th). The girls soccer match vs Highland Tech was rescheduled for next Wednesday (April 17th) at North Lincoln.
