Lincolnton Recreation
Pool Has Opened

  • The Lincolnton Recreation Pool located at Betty G. Ross Park has opened for the Summer.  Pool operational hours are as follows: Monday – Saturday: 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Pool Admission is $2 per day for residents in the Lincolnton city limits and $3 for non-city limit residents. Season passes and group rates are available and the poll is available for rental after hours. For more information, contact the Recreation Office at 704-735-2671.

Lincoln County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet, Saturday, June 22
--- The Annual Induction Banquet for the Lincoln County Sports Hall of Fame will be held Saturday, June 22 at 6 p.m. at the James W. Warren Citizens Center, 116 West Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.  Nominees that will make of the Class of 2019 are Ernie Boger, Lanny Ford, Shirley Michael Hartley, Chris Matile and George Smith. They were selected by the LCSHOF board at a meeting in April. Tickets for the banquet are $25 each and are available at the Lincoln County Recreation office at 206 Gamble Drive in Lincolnton or through a board member.

Cow Pie Bingo Fundraiser, Saturday, June 22 --- Word of Life Lutheran Church, a NALC (North American Lutheran Church) mission congregation, will host its first annual Cow Pie Bingo fundraiser this Saturday, June 22 at Ike Sain's Corral, just behind Cat Square Superette in Vale, NC. The event will run from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. This is the place to be if you are looking for an afternoon of family fun. There will be food, games, vendors and live entertainment. Denver Nuggets Travel Basketball Camps, June 24-27 --- Chip Ashley, Director of the Denver Nuggets Travel Basketball teams, announces the dates for the 24th annual Basketball Camps at East Lincoln High School. Camp dates are June 24-27, camps are for boys and girls rising 2nd-10th grade and will be held at East Lincoln High School. CAMP DATES: JUNE 24-27 (7th-10th Grade 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m., 2nd-6th Grade 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.). CAMP COSTS: Preregister $65, Day of Camp $75. There will be a $10 discount for families with two children enrolled in the camps. APPLICATIONS can be sent electronically by emailing Coach Chip Ashley at denvernuggetsbasketball21@gmail.com.

Summer Tennis Clinics, June 24-28 --- The City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation and the Lincolnton High School Athletic Department is currently taking registration for Summer Tennis Clinics for boys and girls ages 8-17.  Sessions available to register for: June 24-28 from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m.  The clinics will be held at Betty G. Ross Park.  Cost for the camp is $25. Camp director is Coach Chris Hoffman.  Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.  Registration for the camp is being taken at the Lentz Recreation Center at Betty G. Ross Park Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., or online at www.LincolntonNC.org/Parks-Rec. Registration will also be accepted on-site the first day of the camp if space is available.  For more information, contact the recreation office at (704) 735-2671.

Water Aerobics, June 25 – August 13 --- The Lincolnton Recreation Pool at Betty G. Ross Park is offering water aerobics on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. continuing through August 13.  Cost is $3 per session (city residents); $4 (non-city residents) or $20 (city residents); $30 (non-city residents) for the entire program.  Class attendance may warrant the addition of another week-night meeting.  For more information, contact the Recreation Office at 704-735-2671.

VW Cruise-In, Saturday, July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12 --- A Volkswagen (VW) Cruise-In will be held the second Saturday of each month from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. beginning in May and running through October. The event will be held in the parking lot of Caputos Pizza Company, 800 S. Mountain St., Cherryville, NC 28021.

Volleyball Camp With Charlene Johnson Whitted, July 15-16 --- Charlene Johnson Whitted, former Olympic Setter from the 2000 Summer games is coming to Combine Academy to hold a volleyball camp for players 8th-12th grade. Space is limited, registration is required (first come, first serve basis, fees non-refundable). The camp will be held July 15-16 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Combine Academy,270 Car Farm Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092. ELHS Lady Mustangs Basketball Camp, July 22-25 --- The East Lincoln High School girls basketball team will host their annual summer camp July 22-25 directed by East Lincoln head coach Jason Otey at East Lincoln High School, 6471 NC-73, Denver, NC 28037.  The camp will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day, and is open to all rising 4th through 9th graders and will focus on individual skill work, development and improvement of fundamentals and in-game strategy and creating basketball IQ.  The cost of the camp is $60 for pre-registering and $70 the day of the camp.  Families with multiple participants will pay $50 each.  Each camper will receive a t-shirt and have an opportunity to work with the high school coaches and players.  For registration or information contact Coach Otey by email at jotey@lincoln.k12.nc.us.
