The North Lincoln Cross Country team took the South Fork Conference Champtionships on Wednesday.  The meet was held on the course at North Lincoln.  

In the girls 5,000 meter run, senior Angie Allen of North Lincoln was the winner with a time of 18:15:57. Freshman Bella Wood of North finished second at 19:32:13, Third place was won by Katherine Hopkins of Lincolnton, 4th by Lori Glavan of North, 5th by Lauren Buckminster of Bandys. Abby Farris & Lily Yompolsky of Lake Norman Charter finished 6th and 7th; Cara Castro of North, 8th; Jenna Peterson of Lake Norman Charter, 9th; and Emily Laramie of North 10th.

The team title went to North Lincoln; Lake Norman Charter took 2nd; Bandys 3rd, Maiden 5th and East Lincoln 5th.

In the boys meet, Grant Howlett of Lake Norman Charter was the individual winner with a time of 16:05:33 over the 5,000 meters. North Lincoln claimed the next six places and seven out of the top 10. Seniors Jacob Scott & Miles Phillips finished 2nd & 3rd, Sophomore Stephen Fernetti 4th, Freshman Jared Campbell 5th. North's Noah Carter took 6th, Joseph Quilla 7th, and Ethan Davis 9th. Grant Parham of Bandys was 8th.
David Birkhofer, Jr. of Bandys rounded out the top 10 finishers.

North took the boys team title with a total time of 1:23:46 and an average of 16:45:05. Lake Norman Charter was second, Bandys 3rd, East Lincoln 4th and Maiden 5th.

East Lincoln won the Conference volleyball championship. The Mustangs beat Maiden in their final match of the regular season on Thursday to finish with a 10-1 record. It was the 7th win in a row. Maiden finished second at 11-3, Bandys 3rd at 10-3. Both East and Maiden qualified for the state playoffs, the pairings scheduled to be announced later today (Sat. Jan. 9th).

Because of the weather, Friday's basketball games were postponed. Maiden will play at West Lincoln Saturday with the JV girls game starting at noon followed by the next 3 games.

Lincolnton will play at East Lincoln Saturday (boys only) starting at 5 PM.

North Lincoln at Lake Norman Charter has been rescheduled for Wednesday (Jan. 13th) with the JV boys game starting at 4:30 PM.

Due to the volleyball playoffs; Maiden's varsity girls will play a home game against Lake Norman Charter's girls Monday (Jan. 11th) at 5 PM.
The Maiden boys teams will play beginning at 4:30 on Tuesday (Jan. 12th) with the JV boys game to be followed by the varsity boys.

Because of COVID restrictions--you can't go to the games, but you can see them on the South Fork Network. The live-stream service was created in response to the pandemic to keep players (and fans) safe while providing a way for parents, grandparents and friends to see their teams in action. South Fork Conference basketball games are live-streamed for $10 at https://www.sfcnetwork.tv/. The price is per device, which means that several people can watch.
