Carrboro won both the boys and girls titles at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 1A/2A State Swimming & Diving State Championships in Raleigh on Friday.
Emily Knorr from Salisbury won the girls Most Outstanding Swimmer Award. Knorr won a pair of individual events, capturing the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle, both in 1A/2A State Meet record times. Baylor Nelson from Community School of Davidson claimed the 1A/2A boys Most Outstanding Swimmer Award. For Carrboro, it was their first outright win of the state boys title. They had tied for the championship with Shelby in 2015.
The Lincoln Charter girls team finished 5th in the team scores; the Eagles boys team finished 8th.
Alex Givens of Lincoln Charter finished second in one-meter diving, while Davis Hutchinson finished third.
Ethan McCosh from Fred T. Foard finished second in the boys 100-yard butterfly and third in the 500-yard freestyle.
Both the Lincoln Charter girls 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay teams finished third.
