The East Lincoln Mustangs held onto their top spot in the South Fork Conference by beating Lake Norman Charter on Wednesday (Feb. 17th) 5-1. Blake Swanson scored twice, while Chase Lynch, Luke Felts & Landon Graden each had one goal for the Mustangs. Swanson also had 3 assists, while Graden had 2. East Lincoln (6-0) will host Newton-Conover on Friday.
Like East, the Red Devils are undefeated--but they had a 4-4 tie with Bandys to start the season, so their 5-0-1 record leaves them in second place. They beat Lincolnton in overtime on Wednesday 3-2.
The Wolves are probably a better team than their record shows. They've played three overtimes and lost two of them while tying the third. Lincolnton will play at East Lincoln on Monday.
North Lincoln will play at Lake Norman Charter on Monday. In a Wednesday night basketball game, Cherryville beat Piedmont Charter 64-41. Austin Thompson led the Ironmen with 20 points & 8 rebounds; Lavonte Hughes had 12 points & 10 assists, Carson Kelly had 9 points and Noah Abernethy 5.
