All-State, All-Region Choices Released
Zach Zagorski, the captain of the LHS soccer team, a center back 'sweeper' who helped the team limit opponents to just 12 goals for the season in which LHS compiled a 20-1-3 record, was named All-State by the NCSCA.

Lincolnton High School soccer fans who were disappointed when the Catawba Valley Conference All-Conference, players and coaches of the year were announced last week, may be a bit happier this week.  The North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association has announced its choices for All-State and All-Region.  

Lincolnton is well represented on the All-Region selections for region 11.  The Wolves had six All-Region players:  seniors Zack Zagorski, Edwin Olivia, Zander Harrison and Kevin Calvo; sophomore Aaron Lail, and freshman Jesus Tellez-Blanco.  Zagorski, a center back for LHS, was named to the 2A All-State team.  

LHS Coach Brad Bagan was named Coach of the Year for the region and assistant Trent Teague was chosen Asst. Coach of the Year.

"Chuy" Tellez-Blanco was one of three freshmen named to the All-Region selections; the other two were from West Caldwell.  

The All-Region choices by the Coaches Association were:  
  • Jack Berkowitz, junior forward, Shelby
  • Carter Bridges, senior mid-fielder, Shelby
  • [Berkowitz does most of the kicking for the Shelby football (American style) team, Bridges also kicks for them occasionally.
  • Kevin Calvo- senior center back, Lincolnton
  • Jeremy Castillon, freshman defender, West Caldwell Jayco Castro, freshman midfielder, West Caldwell
  • Alex Gutierrez, senior striker, West Lincoln
  • Zander Harrison, senior right back, Lincolnton
  • Aaron Lail, sophomore forward, Lincolnton
  • Cade Ledbetter, senior defender, Shelby
  • Brayan Maldonado-Guzman, junior midfielder, Newton-Conover
  • Jesus Mejia, sophomore striker, Newton-Conover
  • Santiago Nieves, sophomore striker, West Lincoln
  • Edwin Olivia, senior left back, Lincolnton
  • Chris Ramirez, junior striker, Newton-Conover
  • Rodrigo Serafin, junior midfielder, West Lincoln
  • Brian Silva, senior forward, West Caldwell
  • Benjamin Soto, senior midfielder, Newton-Conover
  • Dylan Steeves, junior midfielder, Shelby
  • Jesus "Chuy" Tellez-Blanco, freshman left wing, Lincolnton
  • David Twiggs, senior defender, Shelby
  • Eli Wilbanks, senior goalkeeper, Shelby
  • Zack Zagorski, senior center back, Lincolnton

Lincoln Charter was listed in Region 9. The Eagles had All-Region selections including:

  • Senior midfielder Dylan Benson
  • Junior midfilder Zacharay Salgado
  • Sophomore forward Ethan Walker

The 3A All-Region choices for region 10 include

  • Luke Custer, senior midfielder, North Lincoln
  • Landon Graden, junior midfielder, East Lincoln
  • Christopher Mileta, juior midfielder, East Lincoln
  • Jackson Thrap, junior forward, East Lincoln
  • Orlando Almanza, junior forward, Hickory
  • Spears Culpepper, senior midfielder, Hickory
  • Nick Hutto, senior defender, Hickory
  • Fletcher Tate, senior defender, Hickory
  • Lewis Tate, senior defender, Hickory
  • Carter Bonini, junior midfielder, St. Stephens
  • Eliseo Coronado, junior midfielder, St. Stephens
  • Connor Josey, senior midfielder, Foard
  • Josue Leal, sophomore midfielder, Foard
  • Irvin Martinez-Villa, senior midfielder, Foard
