The NCHSAA announced its girls soccer playoff brackets Saturday. In 2A play, Lincolnton got the #8 seed in the west region and will begin playoff action Monday (May 16th) hosting 25th seed Burns.
Lincoln Charter opens the playoffs at Mayodan, NC, against McMichael High School. Maiden will play at Hendersonville and Bandys at Concord's Jay M. Robinson on Monday.
East Lincoln got the #4 seed in the west in 3A playoffs and will open at home Monday (7 PM) against West Rowan. Fred T. Foard was seeded #21 and will play at Hibriten Monday.
Second round games will be played Thursday (May 19th) at the home of the higher seeded team who won Monday. If they win Monday, both Lincolnton and East Lincoln will play at home Thursday.
Lake Norman Charter is favored to win the west region 3A championship. Of their 20 wins (only one loss), all but two were shutouts.
Other area teams to make the playoffs include East Gaston #5 in the 2A western region, Newton-Conover #23 and Shelby #29. In 3A, Crest was seeded #16 and St. Stephens #17; they'll play each other Monday. Forestview was seeded #20 and will play at #13 Hickory Monday. South Point got the #2 seed in the west and Stuart Cramer was seeded #18.
