They did all they could; they won their Thurday game over Randolph County Post 45 by a 7-3 score; but for Cherryville Post 100 to make it to the semi-finals on Friday in the state tournament at Campbell University, they needed Hope Mills Post 32 to beat Fuquay-Varina Thursday night--and that didn't happen. Fuquay-Varina, the defending state champions, won that game 12-4.

The teat Post 100 beat for the Area IV championship last week will be in the semi-finals. The Queen City Mustangs won their Thursdaa game with Rowan County to improve to 2-1 in pool play. Post 100 also ended pool play 2-1 as did Randolph County, Wilmington, and Fuquay-Varina. but because they gave up a total of 17 runs in three days, Post 100 didn't make it to the semfinals.
Queen City will play Randolph County Friday at 4:30; Fuquay-Varina and Wilmington will play at 7:30. The winners will advance to the state championship game Saturday afternoon.
Win or lose, Randolph County is assured a spot in the Southeast Regionals next week--they're the host team.
