The Lincolnton Wolves Football team will host a Fish Fry and Car Wash fundraiser on Saturday, August 24 to benefit the LHS Weight Room that all athletes at the high school use.

Randolph County Team Wins Mid-Atlantic Regional
The American Legion Baseball team from Randolph County Post #45 did it again.  They won the Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament on Sunday (August 11th) and will play in the World Series at Shelby beginning Thursday.

The host team from Randolph County hopes to win the Southeast Regional American Legion Baseball championship and make its third consecutive appearance in the American Legion World Series next weekend in Shelby.  To get there, they'll have to beat a team to whom they lost on Thursday twice.

He’s a wiz on water-ski’s. He is Elijah Hager of Alexis, and he recently earned bronze medals at the Barbara Bolding-Jim Grew Fund Disabled Water-Skiing World Championships, held in Skarnes, Norway.

Fans who stuck around until the end got their money's worth Monday night as Cherryville Post 100 staged a comeback that fell short in losing to Wilmington Post 10 in the American Legion Baseball State Tournament.  Wilmington and Fuquay-Varina will play for the championship at Fraley Field at 4 PM Tuesday.

South Park Beats Stanley To Win DYB Championship
The Dixie Youth Baseball Majors State Tournament at Stanley's Harper Park ended Friday with the home team coming up short in an exciting championship game.  On Thursday Stanley team staved off elimination with a 2-0 win over South Park but lost Friday by a 1-0 score.

Cherryville Post 100 won the American Legion Baseball Area IV championship Friday night (July 19th) with an exciting win over the Gaston Braves.  A walk-off grand slam home run by Wes Reynolds was the final blow in the game.

A local man is water-skiing his way to fame and acclaim. Eli Hager of Alexis is a member of the 2019 USA Adaptive Water-Ski Team. The team will compete July 25-28 in the 14th Barbara Bolding-Jim Grew Fund Disabled Water-Ski World Championships in Norway.

North Lincoln Wins State Championship
North Lincoln took the first game Saturday afternoon; the Knights needed one more win to take the NCHSAA 2A Baseball State Championship. They trailed for most of the game, but took the lead in the sixth inning and won 9-7 for their first-ever baseball state championship.

A severe thunderstorm, a heavy downpour of rain, and a tornado warning all kept North Lincoln from playing the first game of the two-out-of-three series for the NCHSAA 2A Baseball Championship Friday night, but Saturday afternoon, the Knights got a win in game one.

The first game of the series for the NCHSAA 2A Baseball Championship has been postponed until 2 PM Saturday. It was scheduled for 8 PM Friday but the weather that produced severe thunderstorms in our area hit Greensboro, too.  The 4A championship series first game involving Mooresville H.S. was posptoned untill 11 AM Saturday.

No matter who won, one Lincoln County team was destined to play for the state 2A championship next weekend.  West Lincoln & North LIncoln squared off for a third and deciding game for the Western Region NCHSAA 2A Baseball Championship Friday evening at North Lincoln. North took the game 11-5 to advance to the state championship series.
