Scores/Schedule
Many events of Friday night and Saturday were cancelled, but the Kings Mountain at Shelby football game was not. Shelby beat the Mountaineers 28-23.  Most area teams moved their games up to Wednesday or Thursday and the three Lincoln County teams that played all won.

Calendrically speaking, autumn is just 10 or so days away. And with that in mind, the East Lincoln Community Center is resuming its schedule for walking, pickleball, basketball, senior basketball, volleyball, exercise classes and line dancing.

South Point handed Lincolnton its second loss 42-7 while the other Lincoln County teams took the night off.  Maiden cruised to a 68-0 win over East Burke, and Cherryville pulled out another victory 26-15 over Chase.

A rainy day Saturday afternoon and evening pushed the American Legion World Series into a long day on Sunday--but they managed to get the semi-finals played on Monday, and now the championship game is set for Tuesday at 7 PM (weather permitting).

ALWS Update
The American Legion World Series had a bout with the weather on Saturday.  Only one game was completed.  The second was postponed for two hours, then rained out before it could be completed.  That means it will be completed Sunday morning, followed by what had been the scheduled third game of Saturday.

American Legion World Series Update
Gonzales, Louisiana Post 81 became the first two-win team in the American Legion World Series when they beat the team from Wilmington, Delaware 5-4.  The team from Dubuque, Iowa, who had an opening day loss, got a win over the team from Braintree, Massachusetts, 9-1.

The American Legion World Series continues all weekend in Shelby.  Four games were played Thursday; two will be played Friday, and three each on Saturday and Sunday.  The semifinals will be Monday and the championship on Tuesday.

The American Cancer Society (ACS), in partnership with the Carolina Panthers, awarded the local NFL Breast Health Equity CHANGE Grant to Gaston Family Health Services to address disparities in breast cancer mortality by providing access to breast cancer screening, follow-up of abnormal mammograms and timely access to specialty care if needed.
