Will Spicer of Kings Mountain, N.C. is the 2018 North Carolina Junior Boys' 13 and Under champion. Spicer won three matches on the second day including a 2-and-1 victory in the championship match against Parks Helms of Fayetteville, N.C.

Lady Rebel Basketball Camp June 18-21
West Lincoln High School Lady Rebels will host a Basketball Camp for rising 3rd-9th graders June 18-21 from 8:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. each day.  Cost is $50 and the camp will be held in the West Lincoln High School Gymnasium.

Gastonia Grizzlies Opening Night
Most said it was worth the wait--the opening game of the 2018 season at Gastonia's Sims Park on N. Martin Luther King Way (old Dallas highway) was delayed by the weather.  Thursday night's scheduled opener had to be cancelled, so Saturday night's game became the first this season.

Knights' Season Ends; Eagles Stay Alive
The Lincoln Charter Eagles beat previously unbeaten Murphy Thursday night in Mooresville to set up a showdown for the West 1A Regional title on Saturday at Murphy.  Meanwhile, despite an outstanding pitching performance by Joey Cobb, the North Lincoln Knights lost at Thomasville to Ledford Senior to end their season.

North Lincoln Girls, Lincoln Charter Boys Relay Winners
Two Lincoln County relay teams took first place in events at the NCHSAA Track & Field Championships over the weekend.  The North Lincoln girls won the 4 x 800 relay at the 2A meet on Saturday.  The Lincoln Charter boys won the 4 x 800 at the 1A meet on Sunday.

North Lincoln, Lincoln Charter Advance in Baseball Playoffs
North Lincoln jumped out to an early lead, then held on for a win Saturday over Smoky Mountain to advance in the NCHSAA 2A baseball playoffs.  The Knights will host Ledford Senior from Thomasville Tuesday evening at 7 PM.  Lincoln Charter beat East Surry 2-0 in their 1A playoff game. They'll play either at Murphy on Tuesday.

The South Fork Conference All-Conference selections for softball have been announced, and no surprise, North Lincoln & Maiden each had five players on the list.  Maiden was the big winner with the offensive and defensive players of the year and Coach of the Year.
