Games Of Friday Night Sept. 17th
West Lincoln is now 4-0 after an overtime win over Bandys.  East had to play without Tyler Mizzell, but a freshman QB played well, and they came close to pulling it out with a field goal before losing to Hickory.  North Lincoln lost at Statesville, and Lincolnton played well on defense but lost to unbeaten Bunker Hill.  Here are the scores.

Lincolnton's JV game with Bunker Hill was canceled Thursday, but other JV games were being played--Bandys JVs at West Lincoln, Hickory JVs at East Lincoln, Statesville JVs at North Lincoln, and East Burke JVs at Maiden.  Now here's the schedule for Friday night's varsity games.

LMS Wildcats Win Over ERMS
The Lincolnton Middle School Wildcats hosted East Rutherford Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 9 at Von Ray Harris Stadium.  The Wildcats took home the win with a final score of LMS 20 ERMS 8.

High School Football
West Lincoln held on for a 21-19 win at Ashbrook to advance to 3-0.  Shelby lost, but after trailing 44-14, they cut the lead to 44-37 before falling to South Pointe 51-37. The Bunker Hill Bears are 3-0 after beating North Iredell 41-0.  Maiden had to go to overtime to beat Christ School 27-21 and are also 3-0.

Idaho Falls Bandits Are ALWS Champs
The team from Idaho Falls, Idaho, won the American Legion World Series championship at Keeter Stadium in Shelby Wednesday afternoon, repeating a champions after taking the title in 2019.

ALWS Update
The team from Idaho made its way to the championship game of the American Legion World Series in Shelby with a pair of wins on Monday.  They'll now play the winner of the second semi-final game postponed by rain and now scheduled for 5 PM Tuesday. That game will be followed by the championship game--weather permitting; but the weather doesn't look promising.

Cherryville Post 100 Loses Semi-Final Game
Wilmington Post 10 and Fuquay Varina Post 116 will play at 3 PM Sunday (Aug. 1st) for the American Legion Baseball state championship.  Cherryville Post 100 lost to Wilmington Saturday night 17-10, while Fuquay Varina downed Rowan County 12-5.

Cherryville Post 100 finished pool play in the state tournament of American Legion Baseball as the only unbeaten team after a 12-9 win over Port City on Friday.  They'll play in the semi-finals at 7 PM Saturday at Fraley Field.

Cherryville Opens State Tourney Play With a Win
The Cherryville American Legion senior team is trying to match what the Post 100 juniors did Monday--win a state title.  Playing at Thomasville, the juniors won their championship game over Matthews 11-4.  The state tournament is being played at Cherryville's Fraley Field.  Cherryville started with an 8-2 win over Wayne County on Wednesday.

The Cherryville Post 100 junior team won the state junior champioship in American Legion baseball Monday (July 26th) with an 11-4 victory over Matthews Post 435.

The junior team from Cherryville Post 100 won a spot in the championship game of the state tournament for American Legion Baseball on Sunday.  They'll play a team from Matthews Monday at 2 PM for the state title.

UPDATE FRIDAY NIGHT: Cherryville Post 100 beat Rutherford County team 10-0 (5 innings) Friday night to win the Area IV championship.  Juniors won their game Friday afternoon over Morehead City 18-8.  Jrs. play Sat. 1 PM in state tournament at High Point.  State championship series begins Tues. at Fraley Field.

They've done it again!  In 2019 North Lincoln's boys & girls track teams won NCHSAA 2A championships. Because of the pandemic, there was no state meet last year.  On Saturday (June 26th) the Knights again won the championships.
