LINCOLNTON, N.C. –The Lincoln County Public Library is offering the following events:

Story Times                             

  • Charles R. Jonas – Baby Rhyme Time – EVERY MONDAY, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Babies from 0 to 18 months
  • Charles R. Jonas - Pre-School Story Time – EVERY WEDNESDAY, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Charles R. Jonas - Toddler Story Time (Ages 2-3), EVERY THURSDAY, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Florence S. Shanklin – Pre-School Story Time (Ages 2-3), EVERY MONDAY AND TUESDAY, 10:30 a.m.
  • Florence S. Shanklin – Baby Story Time, Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • West Lincoln Branch – Pre-School Story Time – EVERY THURSDAY, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Space Trek: Steve Somers: The Amazing Teacher, June 18, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ James W. Warren Citizens Center --- Magician and storyteller, Steve Somers, presents his Space Trek program which will delight children and adults.
  • Lego Brick Build - All Ages, June 18, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Charles R. Jonas Library --- Drop In and build!
  • Space Trek: Steve Somers: The Amazing Teacher, June 18, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM @ West Lincoln Branch Library --- Magician and storyteller, Steve Somers, presents his Space Trek program which will delight children and adults.
  • STEAM Lunar Lander, June 18, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM @ Florence S. Shanklin Library --- Grades 3 and up - Registration is required - Call 704-483-3589 to register. Build a lunar lander!
  • Healthy Living with Suzanne, June 18, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Charles R. Jonas Library --- Get healthy tips from a certified health coach.
  • StarLab Lincoln, June 19, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ James W. Warren Citizens Center--- See the stars in a portable planetarium
  • Shoot for the Moon, June 20, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM @ Charles R. Jonas Library --- Create your own alien life forms. Grades K - 5
  • Lego Free Build - Grades K and up, June 20, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM @ Florence S. Shanklin Library---Express your creativity with Legos
  • Teen Art: Galaxy on Canvas, June 20, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ West Lincoln Branch Library---Paint an intergalactic masterpiece. Teen step by step painting.
  • Movie "Chicken Little" June 21, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Charles R. Jonas Library---Young Chicken Little (Zach Braff) throws his small town into panic by claiming the sky is falling. Unable to find the piece of "sky" that hit him, he earns the town's scorn. A year later, outcast Little tries to redeem himself by joining the baseball team, helping to win a crucial game. Later that night he is hit on the head again and discovers that the "falling sky" is actually from a UFO. Now, Little must convince the skeptical town that an alien invasion is about to happen.

Library Locations - The Lincoln County Public Library has three branches.

  • Charles R. Jonas Library (Main Branch), 306 West Main Street, Lincolnton, (704) 735-8044, is open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • West Lincoln Branch Library, 5545 N.C. 27, Vale, (704) 276-9946, is open Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • Florence S. Shanklin Library, 7837 Fairfield Road, Denver, (704) 483-3589, is open Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
