LINCOLNTON, N.C.––“Once you pass the bridge, my friend, his power can no longer harm you!”
Yes, this time of year, you might have Bing Crosby’s words in your head from his role as the narrator in Disney’s classic animated version of Washington Irving’s immortal “Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” But in this case, Ichabod, once you pass the bridge, you’re just about at Gallery 27 at 808 NC-27 West in Lincolnton.
And that could mean only one thing: it’s time once again for the gallery’s annual “Sleepy Hollow” exhibition. According to owner-operator and noted multimedia artist Stacey Pilkington Smith, the exhibition is ongoing through Nov. 3. A reception will be held Oct. 25, 7-9 p.m. Hallowe’en costumes are welcome but not required, as Smith recently noted.
“Our annual ‘Sleepy Hollow’ show celebrates the blurring of lines between fall and winter, plenty and paucity, life and death and Hallowe’en––a time of jubilation and superstition,” she said. “Come celebrate with us as the days grow shorter, and the nights get colder, and usher in the winter season with art, festivity, costumes and treats.”
Local ghosts, ghouls and goblins wishing to learn more about the “Sleepy Hollow” exhibition and reception may fly on over to the gallery’s Website at www.ncgallery27.com or check out the Facebook page. Or call the gallery at (704) 240-9060 or e-mail Smith at Stacey@ncgallery27.com.
