LINCOLNTON, N.C.––With the autumnal air growing chillier, and the days getting shorter, that can mean only one thing.
Yes, it’s time once again for the annual Boger City United Methodist Church Fall Craft Fair. According to spokeswoman Judith Moore of the Lincoln County Office of the North Carolina Co-operative Extension, this yearly event is very big with local senior citizens. The event is sponsored by the Extension and Community Association (or ECA).
Malinda Houser is volunteering for the event, which is coming up on Saturday, Nov. 3, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Shine Goodson Fellowship Hall at Boger City Methodist. Houser, a long-time Extension veteran who is now retired, is helping to co-ordinate the craft fair.
Speaking on Friday, she told The Herald that attendees could expect woodworking crafts, Christmas wreaths, crocheted items, jewelry, baked goods, placemats and more.
“And just a wide variety of things!” she added. “We think it will be really interesting. We’ll have a lot of new vendors. This is just the ECA’s way of helping the church and the community.”
Houser continued that breakfast items and a hot dog lunch with all the trimmings would also be features of the craft fair. And a counsellor from the SHIIP (Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program) will be on hand to answer questions about open enrolment.
Vendors will be setting up in the fellowship hall on Friday, Nov. 2, 1-4 p.m. And Houser noted that some vendor slots remain open. Potential vendors are encouraged to call the Extension to find out more at (704) 736-8461.
