LINCOLNTON, N.C.––It’s all about promoting local small businesses.
It’s the second annual Small Business Christmas Expo, and it’s coming up Nov. 24, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in uptown Lincolnton.
According to local insurance whiz Jamie Houser of the Turner-Houser Insurance Group, the expo’s sponsor for the second consecutive year, the event is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Houser told the Lincoln Herald all about it this week. He said that he and friend Wendy Peeler had a brainstorming session all about promoting the growth of local small businesses, and so the expo was born.
It is, said Houser, all about supporting “the mom-and-pop businesses of our community. We were very focused on having the event in our downtown area, which led to the idea of including the Shop Small Business Saturday, in that the event would bring shoppers to our downtown as well as to our event, which in the end would be a win-win for our community and town.
“This event will provide the shoppers an opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind or handmade items for Christmas gifts,” he continued. “The shoppers will also experience personal customer service and, most of the time, get to speak with the owner of the small business, face to face, whereas in the big-box retailers, that does not happen.”
Houser noted that both he and Peeler are veterans of the local small-business world.
“Wendy and I, being small-business owners ourselves, certainly understand the importance of our clients and giving the clients the best possible experience, so that they will return,” he said, “and in the hopes that they will share their experience with others. This is how we grow our businesses, one relationship at a time. At the end of the day, our goal is to provide a Christmas-shopping experience for the whole family that they remember for a long time!”
