Mt. Holly held its annual Christmas Parade on Wednesday Nov. 28th.  Gastonia was scheduled to hold its parade Sunday afternoon at 4 PM.  These were the first Christmas parades this year in Gaston County, but there are many more--and other Christmas-time activities yet to come.

MONDAY Dec. 3rd

Christmas Tree Lighting (Ranlo)
The Ranlo Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place Monday Dec. 3rd at 6 PM at town hall, 1624 Spencer Mountain Road.

Tree Lighting (Belmont)
Belmont also holds Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 PM Monday. The tree lighting will include candles, music, hot beverages, and holiday cookies provided by Keep Belmont Beautiful. Following the brief ceremony, visitors can take a holiday stroll down Belmont's Main Street to the first night of the Festival of Trees in Stowe Park where colorful, themed Christmas trees will be lining the main sidewalks. Each tree will have been decorated by community schools and organizations. Christmas music will be provided by the First United Methodist Church's hand bell choir and festive holiday beverages and sweet treats will be served by presenting sponsor Belmont Specialty Foods.

TUESDAY Dec. 4th

Belmont Christmas Parade
The city of Belmont and Montcross Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the annual Belmont Christmas Parade which rolls through downtown Belmont beginning at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.


Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting (Cramerton)
Cramerton will have its annual Christmas Parade at 4 PM on Thursday Dec. 6th followed by the tree lighting of the town Christmas tree and photos with Santa.

THURSDAY Dec. 6th - SATURDAY Dec. 8th

Christmas Craft Fair
The Gastonia Farmers Market at 410 E. Long Avenue will host a Christmas Craft Fair Thursday, Dec. 6th thru Saturday Dec. 8th 9 AM – 4 PM each day.

THURSDAY Dec. 6th - FRIDAY Dec. 14th

Santa Visits Mt. Holly
Santa Claus will be visiting the Mount Holly Municipal Complex from 2:00 - 5:00 PM Thursday and Friday Dec. 6th and 7th and Dec. 13th and 14th. Don't forget to bring your camera.

FRIDAY Dec. 7th

Christmas Parade (Bessemer City)
The annual Christmas Parade at 5 PM will be followed by Christmas in the City at Centennial Park with food, music, rides and more.

Carols on the Square (Dallas)
Enjoy Christmas carols on the Historic Dallas Courthouse lawn 6:30 - 9 PM.


Breakfast With Santa (McAdenville)
The Pharr Family YMCA in McAdenville will host a Breakfast With Santa event 8 - 11 AM Saturday Dec. 8th--$3 per person.

Cherryville Christmas Parade
The Cherryville Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to the Cherryville Christmas parade beginning at 10:30 Saturday morning Dec. 8th in downtown Cherryville. The parade rolls west along Main Street from Depot Street to Mulberry, then right on Mulberry and right again onto First Street, ending at Cherry Street.

Christmas at the Train
Lineberger Park, 632 E. Garrison Blvd, Gastonia
Come visit Santa and get your picture taken with him at Lineberger Park. This 10 AM event is a FREE opportunity to meet Santa and get your picture taken. Bring your own camera.

Colonial Christmas and Candlelighting
Schiele Museum of Natural History
1500 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia
Celebrate Christmas on the Carolina Frontier. Join in the “Procession of the Yule Log” decorating with greenery, early American carols, and English country dancing beautifully set amidst the backdrop of the 18th-century backcountry farm. At dusk, gather with our backcountry family for the traditional candlelighting service. Enjoy colonial hospitality with a taste of Christmas pudding and hot gingered apple cider. Admission is free for members, for non-members, it's included with museum admission.

Christmas Enchantment in the Garden (Mt. Holly)
Mt. Holly's Community Garden will host this event beginning at 5 PM. Each of the 52 garden beds will be decorated differently by garden members, along with hundreds of glowing luminaries lighting your way. Be sure to cast your vote for your favorite decorations while you are there. Local businesses and artists will also be taking part this year by decorating designated areas around the garden. The Blue Barn Bistro food truck will be on site as well as hot drinks by Catawba Coffee, homemade donuts from Lil Dunkers Mini Donuts and popcorn from Pop-Maize-N available for purchase. Spiced cider and cookies will also be provided by garden members. There'll be live music by Jonathan Brackett, Cathy Black, Taylor Vancil and an a cappella group, Melodramatic--composed of Mountain Island Charter School students Kelsie Painter, Garet McGinnis, Michael Tate, Joyner Jones and Jasmine Clarkson.


Christmas Parade (Stanley)
The town of Stanley will have its annual Christmas Parade beginning at 3 PM Wednesday Dec. 12th. The parade will march north on Main Street on the west side of the railroad.

THURSDAY Dec. 13th

Yule Log Parade & Ceremony (McAdenville)
Join Christmastown, USA in celebrating one of its most beloved traditions. At 5:30 PM at 100 Main Street, children will sing music of the season followed by a parade and Yule Log Ceremony. The Gaston Symphonic Band and other performers will be on hand along Santa, carriage rides, kettle corn and hot chocolate.

FRIDAY Dec. 14th

Christmas Parade (Dallas)
The town of Dallas will hold its annual Christmas Parade at 4 PM beginning at the Ingles parking lot and marching east down Main Street.

A Very Cherry WhoVille Christmas

Enjoy shopping for Christmas gifts, special music and more during this event 5 - 10 PM in downtown Cherryville.

SATURDAY Dec. 15th

Hardin Community Christmas Parade
The Hardin Community will hold its 7th annual Christmas Parade Saturday Dec. 15th at 11 AM. Lineup begins at 10 AM on Hardin Road near Old Hardin Road The parade will march to the churches in Hardin, one of the longest of the Christmas parades in our area. Fortunately, most of the route is downhill.

Light Up Lowell Festival & Christmas Parade
The town of Lowell will have its Christmas Festival beginning at 2 PM with the parade scheduled to begin at Woodlawn Baptist Church on N. Main St. at 3 PM.

Christmas Village (Belmont)
Belmont Main Street & the Downtown Belmont Development Assoc. host this event Saturday, Dec. 15th 5 PM – 9 PM in downtown Belmont. Festivities will include the Festival of Lights in Stowe Park and up Main Street, carriage rides, hayrides, train rides through Stowe Park, s'more stations, live holiday music, and festive holiday characters.

SANTA Dec. 22nd

Santa Hustle 5K (Belmont)
The 2nd annual Santa Hustle 5k & Half Marathon will be held Saturday Dec. 22nd beginning at 8 AM. The events begin and end in downtown Belmont. All 5k & half marathon participants will receive a Santa hat, Santa beard, a sweatshirt to wear while running, and those who complete the event will get a 5K or Half Marathon Finisher Medal. WEDNESDAY December 26th

Christmastown USA (McAdenville)
The lights will continue to glow nightly thru December 26th from 5:30 - 9:30 weeknights and 5:30 - 11 PM Saturdays and Sundays. The best time to see the lights is usually early in the week. A couple of tips: go to the bathroom before you go to see the lights, and pack some snacks--it will likely be a long evening!


Christmas at the Garden
Holidays at the Garden at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden on S. New Hope Road in Belmont continues daily through January 6th 5 - 9 PM except Christmas Day. Adult tickets range from $12.95 if you buy online in advance to $16.95 at the door Fridays thru Sundays. Senior Citizens tickets are a dollar less, and children 2-12 can visit for $7.95 online in advance to $10.95 at the door. For more information, visit their website.
