LINCOLNTON, N.C.––What child doesn’t dream of getting a bicycle for Christmas?

It’s a time-honored tradition, finding a bike under the Christmas tree. And the Arts Council of Lincoln County is doing its part to make Christmas merrier for local children.

How? According to arts council spokeswoman Deanna Williams McGinnis, the organization is having its annual bike giveaway on Dec. 15 (this Saturday). Lincoln County’s own Rep. Jason Saine is hosting the event this year, as McGinnis recently noted.

She continued that the bike giveaway will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton, from 10 a.m. to noon. This is the second annual such event, as McGinnis told The Herald on Tuesday.

“We are pleased to be working with the Lincoln County Schools again this year to find children in need of bikes,” she said, thanking local school counselors for helping co-ordinate efforts and finding children who could use some bicycles. “We are looking for donors who would still like to make monetary contributions.”

To learn more, McGinnis encourages prospective donors to contact the arts council. You may send your e-mail queries to artslincolnnc@gmail.com or call the arts council at (704) 732-9044 to learn more about the annual bike giveaway.
