DALLAS, N.C. - Are you a young person in search of career information?

Maybe you’re a local college student, seeking professional guidance or maybe just a part-time job. If so, you’ll want to attend Gaston College’s career fair, scheduled for March 12, 9 a.m.-noon, in the Myers Center Auditorium on the Dallas Campus.

According to college spokeswoman Stephanie Michael Pickett, representatives from more than 50 local employers will be on hand to help you learn more about job opportunities and to answer business-related questions.

“The employers, hailing from Gaston, Mecklenburg, Catawba and Cleveland counties, will also be looking at trends within the economy, business sector and work force,” Pickett said recently. “Career fair employers will be recruiting students and/or graduates from the following program areas: the health-related occupations, human services, engineering and industrial programs, technical careers and skilled trades, business administration, automotive, child care, criminal justice, paralegal and more.”

Joy Morrow is the college’s job developer and co-ordinator of work-based learning and placement. Morrow said you won’t want to miss this big event.

“Typically,” she said, “we can expect 300 to 600 hundred Gaston College students and grads to take advantage of meeting with employers at the career fair. They can apply for current job openings or just network with prospective employers to see what future opportunities may arise. It’s all about making that first impression with that employer.”

Those attending the event are encouraged to dress professionally, bring copies of their résumés and take notes while talking to prospective employers.

To learn more, contact Morrow by telephone or e-mail respectively at (704) 922-6380 or morrow.joy@gaston.edu.
