LINCOLNTON, N.C.––It’s not too late to keep those new year’s resolutions.
That’s the word this week from Lincoln County Senior Services spokeswoman Darlene Stroupe. She told The Herald about a Partners in Primary Care wellness event. It’s coming up this Wednesday, March 6, at 10 a.m., and it will be held in the community room of the Lincoln County Senior Center, co-located with the Lincoln Campus of Gaston College (the old Lincolnton Senior and Junior high school site) at 514 S. Academy St.
“Join us,” said Stroupe, “as we kick-start the new year with healthy activities that are sure to move you toward better health and well-being. We will enjoy healthy snacks, mini exercise classes and brain games. Come join the fun!”
Indeed, there’s always something fun going on at the senior center, as Stroupe noted. One such recent event was an afternoon tea, complete with an elaborate china tea service, delicious pastries and more. The event celebrated National Hot Tea Month.
Tax help offered at senior center And of course in addition to all the fun stuff, there’s also more serious stuff available at the senior center, as Stroupe observed.
“Tax season has arrived,” she said. “This year, the Lincoln County Senior Center is an AARP Foundation Tax Aide site. IRS-trained volunteers are preparing and e-filing tax returns at no charge at the senior center.”
Stroupe added that returns are being prepared on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., until April 11.
Call the senior center at (704) 732-9053 to make an appointment or learn more about this and other upcoming events.
