CROUSE, N.C. – Crouse Community History and Photo Project is pleased to announce that special guest Kathy P. Heafner has been scheduled to speak at our March 12, 2019 meeting. Kathy will be speaking on her work as a short-term medical missionary for the North Carolina Baptists on Mission.
Although not a native of Crouse, Kathy has deep roots here. Upon graduating from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Charlotte, N.C., in 1979, she married the late David Heafner and relocated to Crouse where she currently resides.
Kathy’s life passion has always been in nursing, especially serving children and their families, with genetic and developmental challenges. In 2000, Kathy felt a call to expand her nursing care to include medical missions. Thereafter, she served as a short-term medical missionary in Honduras for almost a decade.
As that door closed, another quickly opened. This door was to the Ukraine to serve one of the most ostracized, rejected, and even hated people groups, the Roma Gypsies. Kathy currently serves as a short-term medical missionary in Western Ukraine for the North Carolina Baptists on Mission.
Kathy believes a servant’s heart is not about humanitarian aid, it’s about sharing the love that Jesus Christ is offering, the gift of eternal life!
Kathy’s presentation will be followed by a digital photo presentation.
This event will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Crouse United Methodist Church, GPS address 3311 Crouse School Road, Crouse, NC 28033, on Tuesday, March 12, at 4 p.m.
"The Crouse Community History and Photo Project’s mission is to accumulate, organize, identify, catalog, archive and preserve the memories, photographs and documents pertaining to the history and families of the Crouse community.”
