Burnett Sisters & Colin Ray Wow Audience

Wayne Howard
Staff Writer

The Lincoln County Concert Association has for years brought excellent entertainment to Lincoln County--and Sunday, March 3rd, their concert featuring the Burnett Sisters from Boone with Lincolnton native Colin Ray playing banjo with the girls was no exception.

The girls--ranging in age from 12 to 22 (the youngest just turned 12 about a month ago)--harmonized on bluegrass, country and gospel tunes, sang acapella on a couple of numbers, played flawlessly, and gave Colin his chance to perform for his hometown friends.

The Concert Association's 2018-2019 season still has one more concert: May 5th at the Citizens Center, which by then is supposed to have a remodeled auditorium with much better acoustics and a new sound system.  That concert will feature Orquestra Mayor, a Latin music group.  Since the music they play will include long-time favorites from Mexico, Central & South America and Cuba, it's hoped that a large number of Hispanics who live in Lincolnton might avail themselves of a trip down memory lane with music from their native lands.

The Concert Associaton will soon begin its membership drive for the 2019-2020 season.  Membership not only includes admission to the four concerts locally; members can also attend concerts presented by other concert associations in Gastonia, Statesville and Albermarle.  Those who join before May 5th can attend the Orquestra Mayor concert on their 2019-2020 membership.
