LINCOLNTON, N.C.––The Lincoln County Historical Association is in the midst of an ongoing fundraiser.

As of right now, it has raised nearly $2,000 out of an overall goal of $5,000, according to LCHA spokeswoman January Withers Costa.

“Do you enjoy seeing all of the great work we are doing through the Lincoln County Historical Association?” Costa recently rhetorically asked. “If so, we need contributors to help us to continue our important efforts.

“The Lincoln County Historical Association preserves and maintains historic records and artifacts that relate and tell the story of its residents,” she continued. “Our organization is coming up on 64 years since it was officially chartered by the State of North Carolina. We need your help to continue to preserve this legacy. Please consider donating to our organization and making your impact on the preservation of our local history.”

Costa added that the fundraiser is scheduled to last another month. Seventeen donors have contributed so far, according to the LCHA’s stats.

The Lincoln County Historical Association, Inc. is a U.S. 501(c)-three nonprofit organization. Its offices are located in the Lincoln Cultural Center at 403 E. Main. St. in Lincolnton, as Costa pointed out.

“We would like to share with everyone that the Lincoln County Museum of History, managed by the LCHA, located in the Lincoln Cultural Center, now has open hours,” she said.

That schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and on Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

“We hope to see you soon!” said Costa.

And relatedly, the LCHA is seeking to––you might say––dig up some local interest in archaeology. If you dig the past (yes, literally!), this might be just the big dig gig for you.

“Do you like history and getting your hands dirty?” Costa asked.

Volunteers are being sought right now for a local excavation project. No experience is necessary, as volunteers will be taught the methods.
