It would be more than fair to say that the Stanley Easter Egg Hunt at Harper Park didn't go exactly as planned. It was originally scheduled for Saturday April 13th--but the weather was questionable, so they postponed it until the day before Easter (Saturday April 20th).
Then came thunderstorms on Friday and the likelihood that some of them might also happen on Saturday--and there would almost certainly be some periods of rain...so the folks from Depot Church, Craig Memorial Baptist, First Baptist and the town of Stanley decided the answer might be to make the 'hunt' a drive-thru event; and that's what they did.
Some got their photos made with the Easter Bunny, who handed out eggs and other prizes, and everyone seemed to have a good time. Photographer Bill Ward was there and shared his photos with us.
