HICKORY, N.C. - On Friday, May 3, 2019 at 12 p.m., the First Friday with a Local Author program will feature author Tamra Wilson. Wilson will share her past experiences on becoming a successful writer. Her works have been published in various well-known publications such as Chicken Soup for the Soul, Chocolate for Women and Our State. She will also share how she came about to becoming a Road Scholar and her experiences in that role.
Tamra Wilson, who lives near Newton, is also a Fellow at the Virginia Center of Creative Arts and provides manuscript critiques for the North Carolina Writers Network. Wilson has authored Dining with Robert Redford & Other Stories and co-edited with Elizabeth Searle Idol Talk: Women Writers on the Teenage Infatuations That Changed Their Lives, the first-ever anthology of women's essays about their teen idols.
The application for local authors interested in participating in the First Friday with a Local Author program is available. Authors representing children, young adult, and adult literature are encouraged to apply. This First Friday with a Local Author program is free and open to the public. The May program will take place in the upstairs conference room. Registration is not required.
