It was purely ceremonial--the construction is well underway for the new West Lincoln Library at the intersection of Shoal Road and Westwinds Road a short distance south of West Lincoln Middle School.
The land for the new library branch was donated by Loretta Beam, daughter of the late Elwyn and Barbara Beam. The couple and their son Eddy operated Beam Lumber Company and Elwyn was a Lincoln County Commissioner from 1970 until 1986.
The new library branch will be completed by the end of this year, replacing a small location in a strip shopping center on Highway 27.
