Lincoln County Special Olympics athlete Karmoney McClain didn't get her day in the sun--because it was raining. But she did get to participate in the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia on Friday (April 26th).
McClain had been selected as one of 26 athletes from North Carolina to participate in the Penn Relays--a huge accomplishment for Karmoney and an honor for Lincoln County.
Celeste Frazier, who coordinates the Special Olympics program here, accompanied her on the trip. Her mother, Tracy McClain is on dialysis and was unable to attend. Karmoney is a senior at Lincolnton High School and will graduate in June.
The trip to Pennsylvania gave her the opportunity to meet athletes from all over the world who spoke many different languages and had assorted disabilities.
