LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Publix of Denver has donated a Little Library that is now loaded with books and ready for readers at the Lincoln County Health Department located at 200 Gamble Drive in Lincolnton.

“Publix store managers and leadership built 132 Little Libraries that are being placed and maintained by United Way and its partner agencies across several states,” said Publix of Denver store manager, Franky Mendez. “We also collected nearly 14,000 books for the libraries. The libraries function as small book exchanges that allow anyone in the community to take a book for free or share their own books.”

This latest project is just one of the many ways Publix is supporting Lincoln County. Publix of Denver associates participated in the United Way Day of Action performing improvement projects in the Oaklawn community. Publix donated pallet loads of school supplies to stock the Teacher Resource Center located at Communities in Schools.  Publix associates have also financially supported the United Way campaign for 2019.

“Since opening in 2018, Publix of Denver has jumped in to help our community in so many ways,” said United Way of Lincoln County executive director Kathy Vinzant. “Part of their mission statement is being responsible citizens in the community and they are certainly living out that mission. Franky Mendez serves on our Board of Directors and is a wonderful asset to our working board.”

About United Way of Lincoln County --- United Way of Lincoln County’s mission is to connects people, resources and ideas to create a thriving community characterized by stability, educational success, and healthy members of our community.
