Nutrition and dementia, plus dental information, coming soon

Lincoln Herald Staff

DENVER, N.C.––If you’re a senior, or you have loved ones who are, you’ll want to know about these presentations.

They’re coming up at the East Lincoln Community Center, located at 8160 Optimist Club Road in Denver. According to Lincoln County Senior Services spokeswoman Darlene Stroupe, “Nutrition and the Dementia Patient” will be held May 15, 10-11 a.m. This free program will be presented by Stuart Madow, the director of professional relations at Carolina Caring.

And May 23, 1-3 p.m., there will be a dental seminar, also at the East Lincoln Community Center. Certified Medicare provider Dr. Frank Avason will present this free informational program, all about providing you with details about your teeth and overall health. You can learn how Medicare Part B may pay a significant portion of your treatment if it is a medical necessity.

Limb clinic is May 17

Do you have weak ankles or an unsteady gait? Or do you suffer from diabetes or a past stroke?

If so, the limb clinic may be able to assist you! It’s coming up May 17, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Lincoln County Senior Center at 514 S. Academy St. (co-located with the Lincoln Campus of Gaston College in the former Lincolnton Senior and Junior high schools’ building).

At the clinic, as Stroupe noted, orthotists will identify the cause of your foot problems and offer you some optimal solutions.

For more details and to register for these events, Stroupe encourages you to call the Lincoln County Senior Center at (704) 732-9053.

A golden opportunity, June 13

And in other senior services news, the annual Golden Opportunity Expo is scheduled for June 13, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

As Stroupe informed, the Warren Citizens Center in uptown Lincolnton is the place to be for learning more about programs available for local older adults.

“Make plans to join us!” she encouraged the public, citing health screenings, vendors, educational sessions, exercise demonstrations and door prizes throughout the day.

Call the Lincoln County Senior Center at (704) 732-9053 for more details.
