FRIDAY May 17th

Salem Industries Yard Sale & BBQ
Salem Industries, 1636 Salem Church Road (serving adults who are mentally challenged) will have a Yard Sale and BBQ lunch Friday 8 AM - 2 PM. BBQ plates are $8.50.

Mt. Holly Summer Concert
Mt. Holly will have music from Gary Lowder & Smokin' Hot at its Friday night downtown party this Friday.  The band takes the stage at 7 after DJ Johnny B from Lincolnton kicks things off at 6 PM on Main St.  

Gastonia Summer Concert
Gastonia kicks off its summer concert series this Friday evening at the Rotary Pavilion downtown.  On the Border, and Eagles tribute band, will perform beginning at 7 PM.  The evening begins with a DJ at 6 PM.

Music @ Crafted Southern Speakeasy
Crafted Southern Speakeasy will have music Friday evening by Gianluca & Nick and Saturday by Josh Hudson. They're located at 411-B East Main Street in Lincolnton.

McKendree UMC Spring Fling Carnival
The Spring Fling at McKendree United Methodist Church, 3537 US 321-Business north of Lincolnton begins at 7 AM Saturday with a yard sale, bake sale and Spring Fling Carnival with FREE food, games and inflatables.

Webbs Chapel UMC Community Yard Sale
Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church, 4640 Webbs Chapel Church Rd., Denver, will have a community yard sale Saturday 7 AM - noon.

Lake Norman Riversweep & Cleanup
Come help clean up the islands on the lake and the shores of Lake Norman during this event Saturday beginning at 8 AM at Beattys Ford Park on Shipley Lane just off Unity Church Road in Denver. Boats are needed, but so are volunteers to help collect the trash on the lake and nearby shore areas. For more information, contact Patti Korn of Keep Lincoln County Beautiful at 704-451-7313.

Hickory Romance Home & Garden Tour
The Hickory Landmarks Society will hold its 25th annual Romance of the Home and Garden Tour this Saturday. Seven homes, and/or gardens are featured on the tour. All will be open to the public from 9 AM - 4 PM with a ticket, available for $30 at the Hickory Landmarks Society office at 542 2nd St. NE in Hickory. For more information and call 828-322-4731.

Union VFD Open House
The Union Fire Dept. will hold an Open House this Saturday at their new main station, intersection of Reepsville Rd. & Leatherman Rd.  Both new stations are up and running and the public is invited to come see the new station, enjoy  food and see the new E-64 fire engine. 

Ricardo the Great @ GoodWood Pizza
GoodWood Pizza on N. Aspen St. just off the Courtsquare in Lincolnton will have Ricardo the Great (Ric Ramseur) performing a magic show this Saturday at noon on their patio behind the restaurant.

LCHA Letters from the Trenches
Long forgotten letters from a WWI Marine Captain fighting in the trenches of France come to life in a one hour multimedia solo performance by his grandson, Hardin Minor this Saturday at 2 PM at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. The event is sponsored by the Lincoln County Historical Association. General admission is $15, senior citizens and veterans $10 if purchase in advance at the LCHA office on the 2nd floor of the Cultural Center.

FREE CPR & AED Training
Free CPT & AED (automated external defibrillator) training will be provided those attending this session Saturday 2:30 - 3:30 PM at the Lincoln County Family YMCA, 1402 E. Gaston St, Lincolnton. Participants must be 13 or older but do not have to be a member of the YMCA. Register online at https://www.compressandshock.org/lincoln-county-ymca-individuals-registrations. Every learner who attends will be eligible for a discount of 30-40% when purchasing an AED from selected suppliers. AEDs save lives but need to be partnered with CPR education.

Lincolnton/East Lincoln Relay for Life
The Lincolnton and East Lincoln Relay for Life events will happen together this year (this Saturday May 18th) at one location: Lincolnton High School Stadium on Jeb Seagle Drive. The Lincolnton Relay Survivors Dinner will be at 4 PM. The opening ceremony is scheduled to follow the Survivors Walk set for 6 PM. Highlights of the evening will include the motorcycle Bug Run at 9 PM and the Luminaria lighting ceremony at 9:30 PM. The event lasts until 11 PM. Food & entertainment will be a part of the evening as teams attempt to raise money to fight cancer.

Music in the Park
The first of four Music in the Park events is scheduled for this Saturday (May 18th) 6 - 10 PM at Rescue Squad Park on Galway Lane across the road from Lincoln Charter School in Denver. Thirsty Horses will provide the music. Food trucks will offer food including ice cream, and beer & wine will be available for purchase. Admission to the event is FREE. It's sponsored by the Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club. Another Music in the Park is scheduled for the third Saturday of each month thru August, and the annual Denver Days happens in November.

SUNDAY May 19th

McKendree UMC 3rd Sunday Luncheon
McKendree United Methodist Church, 3537 Maiden Highway (US 321-business north), Lincolnton, will have its monthly luncheon benefiting outreach programs of the church this Sunday at 11 AM following morning worship. Suggested donation is $8.

Italian food luncheon
The Lincolnton Lions Club will have a luncheon featuring Italian foods Sunday 11:30 - 1 at the Boger City United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Lithia Inn Road behind the church. An $8 donation is requested.
