LINCOLNTON, N.C.––Ever want to remember someone by creating a cherished keepsake?

Well, now you can. The Lincoln County Senior Center will have a memory bears and pillows workshop on July 23, 1-4 p.m. According to senior center spokeswoman Darlene Stroupe, participants will have the opportunity to make a teddy bear or a pillow out of a loved one’s shirt or some other article of clothing. Children are welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult.

Stroupe added that the event is being presented by Hospice of Cleveland County. It’s free and open to the public. But space is limited, so be sure to RSVP by calling the senior center at (704) 732-9053.

Purses for a Purpose

And in other news, Stroupe informed that you can bring in your old purses and accessories to the senior center before Aug. 7. It’s all part of “Purses for a Purpose.” They’ll be for sale at the center on Aug. 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and all proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Disease Association.

The Lincoln County Senior Center is co-located with the Lincoln County Campus of Gaston College (the former location of the old Lincolnton Senior and Junior high schools) at 514 S. Academy St. in Lincolnton.

To learn more about these and other upcoming activities, Stroupe encourages you to call the center at (704) 732-9053.
