MAIDEN, N.C. – Maiden Elementary School held a meet and greet (Sweet Treats With The Principal) on Thursday, July 25 to welcome their new principal and assistant principal.

Parents brought their kids out to grab an ice cream and get acquainted.

We’re excited to have Mrs. Plemmons join us for the 2019-2020 school year!

Shannon Plemmons was raised in Catawba County, N.C. where she attended Mountain View Elementary, Jacobs Fork Middle, and Fred T. Foard High School. She received her Bachelors of Science in Special Education from Appalachian State University and Masters in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. She taught Special Education at Fred T. Foard High School as a resource and self-contained teacher for five years as well as one year at Blackburn Elementary as a resource and inclusion teacher. She was the Assistant Principal at Maiden Middle School for the last four years.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her son. She loves traveling to different places and spending time with family and friends. She feels blessed to be the Principal at Maiden Elementary and looks forward to serving each student and family.

Maiden is also so excited to introduce their new Assistant Principal Mrs. Heather Kelly who is very excited to be joining the Maiden Elementary staff in the role of Assistant Principal.

She has lived in the area since moving from Charlotte in 2011. Mrs. Kelly received her Bachelors of Art in Elementary Education from Pfeiffer University and a Masters in School Administration from Appalachian State University. The majority of her 13 years teaching was spent in 5th and 6th grades, although she did spend one year in kindergarten. Most recently, she was a math teacher at Balls Creek Elementary.

Her family enjoys camping, boating, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends. She said “It is an honor to be a part of a school community filled with enthusiasm about education and a staff dedicated to the success of every student.”

Back-To-School Open House for Maiden Elementary will be held Thursday, August 22 from 5-7 p.m.
