LINCOLNTON, N.C.––Do you know what the members of the North Carolina Senior Tarheel Legislature do?
They advocate for us. That’s the word this week from Lincoln County Senior Services spokeswoman Darlene Stroupe. She informed that N.C. Senior Tarheel Sue Jane Sides will be at the Lincoln County Senior Center this Monday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m.
Stroupe explained that Senior Tarheels strive to keep senior folks informed about issues germane to them and their lives.
Sides will be here, she added, “to update us on senior issues that are being discussed by the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh.”
This includes a bill to increase home and community care block grant funding (an initiative that helps North Carolina’s senior adults), as Stroupe pointed out.
“This will be a great opportunity to get involved, learn about the legislative process and ask questions,” she added of Monday’s meeting.
The senior center is co-located with the Lincoln County Campus of Gaston College at 514 S. Academy St. in Lincolnton. There’s always something fun or educational going on.
To learn more about this and other such events, Stroupe encourages you to call the senior center at (704) 732-9053.
