LINCOLNTON, N.C.––The Arts Council of Lincoln County is now accepting sub-grant applications.

According to arts council spokeswoman Deanna McGinnis, the group is taking them through Aug. 31. McGinnis added that for the past 42 years, the North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program has provided the people of the Old North State with high-quality artistic experiences. Using a per capita-based formula, the program provides funding for the arts in all of the state’s 100 counties through partnerships with local arts councils. The Arts Council of Lincoln County serves as the North Carolina Arts Council’s partner in awarding sub-grants to local organizations for arts programs in Lincoln County.

“Any 501-C-three groups are eligible to apply,” said McGinnis. “Through the years, we have funded many organizations. And we look forward to funding again.”

Applications are available for non-profit organizations that have the purpose of promoting and developing various cultural arts programs in Lincoln County. Funding priority is given to qualified arts organizations; to educational arts programs that are conducted by qualified artists; and to other community organizations that provide arts programs in the county. Projects must occur between now and June 15, 2020.

According to the N.C. Arts Council, the grassroots arts program funds may be used for expenditures to conduct arts programs or operate arts organizations. Typical uses of grassroots money includes such program expenses as professional artists’ fees and travel, space rental, advertising, marketing and publicity, Website and electronic media, scripts, costumes, sets, props, music and equipment rental and operating expenses for qualified arts organizations not already receiving operating support from the N.C. Arts Council. These can include salaries, telephone, office supplies and much more.

Grant guidelines are available on the Website at www.ncarts.org. For questions, grant applications or more information, McGinnis encourages you to contact the Arts Council of Lincoln County by telephone at (704) 732-9044 or by e-mail at artslincolnnc@gmail.com.
