Medal Of Honor Day
Because "no, we won't forget!"
“This Medal of Honor does not belong to me. This medal belongs to every man and woman who has served their country. We were doing what we were trained to do. We were doing our job.” --- Michael E. Thornton

Medal of Honor recipients received a heroes welcome Friday night at Mustang-Panther Stadium in Colleyville, Texas.

They, along with first responders, were honored at the Colleyville Heritage High School football game.

The Medal of Honor recipients arrived at the stadium with a motorcycle escort, and they were welcomed with cheers.

Medal of Honor recipient James McCloughan performed the National Anthem before the game.

It didn't include a motorcycle escort, but veterans were honored at a special pre-game ceremony at Lincolnton High School Stadium Friday evening before the game with East Gaston.

Lincolnton will also welcome three Medal of Honor winners for a special event Friday September 27th at the James W. Warren Citizens Center. Coordinated by Dale Punch and sponsored by the National Guard and the American Legion, the 10 AM event will be attended by students from multiple schools but it is open to the public and admission is free.

Don "Doc" Ballard (US Navy), Joe Marm and Robert Patterson (US Army) will share their experiences and views with students and others.
